Many people spend a fair amount of time in their garages. Whether its automotive tinkering or lifting weights on a home gym, the garage is somewhere where a comfortable temperature is important. A common way of maintaining the climate in the garage is by using insulation, however insulation can only work effectively if it is used correctly.
- For insulation to reduce summer heat gain it must be installed with an air gap between the door and the insulation itself. Without this air gap the insulation will not work as a radiant barrier, rendering it almost completely ineffective.
- When fitting foil-faced foam into a garage door the foil side should face the garage door. This will ensure the foam provides maximum insulation.
- Always measure each foam insulation panel individually when cutting. This will ensure that every panel is the correct size for the space it is to be used on.
